About Us

Maxwell’s House was founded by Shawn and Karen Peterson in 1994. Located in Egg Harbor’s historic original grocery store building, the store has since expanded twice to now occupy the entire 3000 sq. foot space. Being open year round lets us enjoy the beauty of the seasons and the changes of pace between the busy summer/fall and the peacefulness of the slower season. We continue to be inspired by mixing creative products in unexpected ways. We’re so grateful to our customers and staff for letting us do what we love in the place we love.
